"Empowering Young Voices, Building Bright Futures"

S L Drama Academy CIC offers a safe, creative space where children, particularly those facing disadvantage or are at risk of disengaging from education — can discover their strengths, build confidence, and reconnect with learning.

Through drama, performance, and the arts, we give every student the opportunity to explore their imagination, develop resilience, and gain the tools they need to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.

Our programmes are designed to spark self-belief and empower young people to use their unique voice with pride. By combining creativity with personal development, we help them build essential life skills, improve social connection, and enhance their mental and emotional well-being.

We are committed to removing barriers — whether social or emotional — so every young person can thrive.

Our mission is to ensure that they leave us with a stronger sense of self, a clearer vision for their future, and the courage to take the next step towards it.

What Schools and Commissioners need to know...

What we offer:

This is a part-time Alternative Provision for KS1 & KS2 students.
Students may attend 2 days a week. We currently operate on a Wednesday and Thursday

Type of provision offered:

This is a creative and personal development-focused AP delivered in person within Derby City. The provision is designed specifically to re-engage young people in education by equipping them with the tools to manage school life and overcome the challenges that often prevent them from thriving in mainstream settings.

Subject/expertise areas:

The offer is rooted in creative and performing arts - drama, movement and music. These are used as vehicles for developing self-regulation, resilience, confidence, communication and positive social interaction. Students learn to manage emotions, build stronger peer relationships, and develop the personal skills needed to succeed both in and outside of school.

History and experience of delivery:

With over ten years’ experience delivering creative and personal development programmes across the East Midlands. We have a strong track record of working with children identified as vulnerable, disengaged, or at risk of exclusion, with outcomes that include improved behaviour, attendance, emotional regulation, and readiness to learn.

S L Drama Academy CIC brings specialist expertise in drama-based education and performance with extensive experience working with children who have struggled in mainstream education, using creative approaches to rebuild confidence, communication, and resilience.

Who Is It For?

We welcome partnerships with schools, local authorities, and community organisations seeking an alternative, inspiring approach for young people who would benefit from a nurturing, person focused skills-based pathway.
